Caterpillar Child Care Center Curriculum
Caterpillar uses the Funny Daffer Curriculum, which includes both child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. These experiences support and enrich children’s development physically, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. The curriculum features directed activities, play and exploration centers, outdoor physical development, thematic activities, instructional materials, and texts.
Each classroom has weekly lesson plans posted for parents to view. These plans include a variety of activities designed to foster both individual child development and the growth of the group as a whole. Lesson plans may be adjusted to accommodate the children’s changing interests. “Free-play” is an important daily part of the curriculum, allowing children to choose the center or activity they wish to participate in. This promotes creative expression and the development of essential social skills.
Bible integration is a key component of the day, using Bible stories, character-building stories, music, and prayer as part of the curriculum. The goal is to help children understand that God loves us, Jesus is our friend, the Bible is God’s Word, and prayer is our time to communicate with God. Doctrine from any particular denomination is not taught.
